Introduction

The FreOne Foundation aims to support enterprising people who are currently experiencing hard times due to sub-optimal life circumstances. The foundations approach is project oriented. At the moment the foundation is conducting pilot projects in Kenya and Uganda.

Together we explore new ways, gain experience, collect and share information with one goal in mind: to enable those involved to earn a living independently.

The foundation provides funds, equipment, knowledge and an internet based backbone aimed at working together remotely.

Projects

The graphic above shows our current activities and projects. The page you are currently viewing provides some background information and context of the FreOne Foundation.

Project Welcome

New beneficiaries (from now on called participants) of the foundation will need an introduction and some training to become accustomed to the way FreOne operates.

Project Backbone

_images/thumb_fo_idx5.jpeg

Every participant receives a laptop equipped with a dedicated business operating system, called the Backbone. Participants take notes of their progress, once in a while the notebooks are synchronized with each other in order to built a common knowledgebase of our findings.

Project Python

_images/thumb_fo_idx6.jpeg

Python is the programming language FreOne uses to perform administrative tasks and to provide input for the Backbone. Participants are welcome to study this versatile language and will receive training if they want to learn the basics of Python.

Project Comm

_images/thumb_fo_idx2.jpeg

The communication module of the Backbone enables participants to store notes such as local addresses. This kind of data is kept personal and not shared during the synchronization process. So in fact it’s about local communication :)

Project Farm

_images/thumb_fo_idx10.jpeg

Aimed to improve the chance that small scale farming activities actually will generate some profit. This is FreOnes most ambitious project. There are a lot of hurdles to be taken in order to become a successful farmer.

Project Green

_images/thumb_fo_idx7.jpeg

Revolves around durability and the reuse of materials and goods that are normally thrown away thoughtlessly such as packaging materials.

Project Design

_images/thumb_fo_idx8.jpeg

Identification and development of niche opportunities to produce all kinds of handy goods suitable for local fabrication.

Project Book

_images/thumb_fo_idx9.jpeg

Development of written as well as multimedia content such as books. At the moment FreOne collects local recipes with the intention to bundle them in a cookery book some day.

Project Art

_images/thumb_fo_idx11.jpeg

Collection of art, can be local as well as the output from for example the ITLS project (see below).

Project ITLS

_images/thumb_fo_idx3.jpeg

It’s The Light Silly. Aimed at improving photography skills with the intention to produce “wall worthy” images. This project has its own website. The ITLS website demonstrates the way FreOne works: making progress one step at a time, resulting in opportunities to generate revenue along the way.

The ITLS content is still under construction, will be published soon :)

Project Revenue

Project School
